What does your perfect cup of tea taste like? Come create it and take a whole jar home with you!
Tea blending is part flavor, part plant knowledge, and part delicious experimentation. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how to build a balanced herbal tea from the bottom of the cup upwards, then you’ll put what you’ve learned to work creating a blend entirely your own.
We’ll work our way through different flavor profiles, from earthy and floral to bright, fruity, spicy, and naturally sweet. Learn how base herbs, supporting flavors and little accents work together, and why some ingredients can quickly overpower a blend.
We’ll also tackle the part that can make or break even a beautiful tea: brewing it properly. We’ll cover water temperature, steeping times, how much tea to use, the difference between an infusion and a decoction, and why roots, leaves, flowers and fruits sometimes need to be treated differently in the teapot.
Then it’s your turn at the blending table! Smell, taste, experiment and follow your own palate as you create a personalized loose-leaf herbal tea to enjoy at home. Everyone will leave with a jar of their own custom blend.
Whether you’re a dedicated tea drinker or your current brewing technique is “put bag in mug and microwave,” you’re welcome at the table. Come ready to play and discover what happens when you stop choosing box tea and start creating your own.
